Mr. Robinson is a highly experienced senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He has worked extensively across a wide range of North Asia and international security, strategic policy, and other matters. He has served overseas in Japan and the United States and is now in the Republic of Korea for the third time.
His inaugural overseas assignment was in Seoul from 1988-1992, followed by a tenure as Deputy Head of Mission from 2007-2011. His experience in Korea dates back to his university years in the early 1980s.
Professor Woo-seung Kim received his undergraduate and master's degrees in mechanical engineering at Hanyang University in 1981 and 1983 and received his doctorate in engineering from North Carolina State University in the U.S. in 1989. After that, he studied as an ALCOA Postdoctoral researcher, was appointed as a professor at Hanyang University's ERICA Campus in 1991, and served as the 15th president of Hanyang University from March 2019 to February 2023. He was awarded the Order of Merit for Industry-Academic Cooperation in 2011 and was co-chairman of the National Industrial-Academic Cooperation Committee.
Currently, he is a senior member of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea and has worked as the head of the Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea(ABEEK). He is also the Vice-Chairman of the Glocal University Committee for the Glocal University 30 Project promoted by the Ministry of Education for the joint growth of local universities and regions.
Professor Kent Anderson is an international lawyer specialising in the Asia-Pacific. He recently returned to the University of Newcastle as Deputy Vice Chancellor, Global.
Kent has an eclectic background, having been an academic in Australia, US and Japan; a marketing manager with a US regional airline in Alaska; a commercial lawyer in Hawaii; and most recently senior adviser for higher education to two Australian Ministers of Education.
Kent served on a number of boards including National Library of Australia, Ministerial Council for International Education, Higher Education Standards Panel, New Colombo Plan, Canberra Grammar School, and President of the Asian Studies Association of Australia.
Professor Chung-Hwan(Steve) Jeon is currently working as the Vice- President of External Affairs for Research and Collaboration at Pusan National University.
He has established and supervises several major research organizations at the university. In the energy field where he focuses, PCERI(Pusan Clean Energy Research Institute) has been conducting world-leading research accelerating the development of carbon-free energy. He has been appointed Director of the Korea(PNU)-Australia(UoN, University of Newcastle) Global Hub Center, designed for green energy(ammonia) production and utilization for international cooperation.
In recognition of his contributions to steel technology research, he was appointed as a POSCO Affiliated Professor in 2016, and as a result of international cooperation with China, he was also appointed as a THU Distinguished Visiting Professor.
In particular, in PNU ‘Glocal Project’, he is in charge of campus specialization, industry- academia cooperation, and globalization, and is currently striving to strategically promote global cooperation and exchange at the university level in research and education with Newcastle University in Australia.
Professor Jeon has served as a technical advisor to a number of Korean energy companies and has contributed to many national key projects on combustion and gasification, IGCC, and major projects related to energy plants. As a result, Professor Jeon published more than 300 technical papers in the SCI journals and other domestic academic journals.
Janine Pitt is the Counsellor (Education and Research) for the Republic of Korea and Japan and is based at the Australian Embassy in Tokyo.
Janine has extensive international experience representing Australia and the Department at senior levels at a wide range of International and multilateral fora. Janine was previously based in Paris for three years as Minister-Counsellor with the Australian Delegation to the OECD where she focused on Employment, Education, Skills and Vocational Training.
Liz has been leading the Australia-Korea Business Council as CEO since December 2015, leveraging her extensive background with Asialink Business and KPMG to spearhead initiatives that enhance bilateral trade and investment between Australia and Korea. Her command of the Korean language is both deep and nuanced, evidenced by her completion of a Diploma of Languages (Korean) at Monash University, alongside her studies at Seoul National University. Liz's academic journey also took her to Yonsei University and Sogang University, further enriching her understanding of Korean culture and business practices.
In 2017, Liz's efforts in promoting economic collaboration between Korea and Australia were formally recognised by the Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Sydney with an appreciation plaque. Her dedication to leadership and excellence in governance was underscored in 2021 upon graduating from the Australian Institute of Company Directors Course.
